Nathan Salmon Selected for 2023 NZ Barbarians Squad

Northland Rugby Union extends a massive congratulations to Nathan Salmon who is currently playing for the NZ Barbarians, having been named in the team earlier this month.

Nathan is a former Whangarei Boys High School player, a current member of the Northland U19 team and is currently playing Premier club rugby for Old Boys Marist. Nathan is also a member of the Northland academy program which has seen him brought in to be a part of the NPC training groups as well throughout 2023.

This year, the New Zealand Barbarians team is being led by Dave Dillon (Highlanders) with Matt MacDougall (St Patricks Silverstream/Crusaders U18) and Rocky Khan (Mount Albert Grammar School) named as assistants.

New Zealand Barbarian Club President Peter White congratulated the players selected and the opportunity to wear the Barbarian jersey.

“The Barbarian teams not only deepen the pool of Under 18 players provided with international competition, but also allows this group to experience the camaraderie and spirit developed to understand the significance of the famous red Barbarian jersey. It's all the good things about the game and it links this year’s players with all of those who have worn the jersey before,” finished White.

The team took on New Zealand Schools on Saturday 23rd September where Nathan scored a try for the team. The score from this game was 57-22 to New Zealand Schools.

The next game for the Babarians is tomorrow at St Pauls Collegiate in Hamilton:

Thursday 28 September - St Pauls Collegiate, Hamilton
New Zealand Māori U18 v New Zealand Barbarian U18, 12.00pm kick-off

Best of luck to Nathan and the team.
