We’re proud to announce that Alisha Proctor has been named captain of the 2025 Northland Women’s Development Team. Supporting her as vice-captains are Karma, Set, and Sophia.
These four wāhine have consistently demonstrated strong leadership, manaakitanga, and courage from the very beginning of our campaign. Their selection wasn’t just made by the coaching staff, it was backed by their teammates, who understand how important it is to be led by those they trust and believe in.
Alisha stood out as a natural leader, with Karma, Set, and Sophia providing a solid foundation of support. Together, they embody the values and strength we need as we head into battle this season.
Also – the players have made some notes for you too if you’re interested. They mentioned the honour and privilege to be part of the leadership group, the importance of having young girls looking up to them, We play for our province, our clubs and most importantly our whānau, and being able to wear the Cambridge blue this year is truly a very special honour for me. I’m so proud to help lead a group that gives a damn about each other and plays for more than just the scoreboard.

Captain: Bodene Davis
Position: Lock / Blindside Flanker
As coaches, when we looked across the squad for someone to lead this team, the choice became clear: Bodene Davis embodies everything we want this group to stand for.
Bodene is the kind of leader who doesn’t need to talk himself up, his actions do it for him. Whether it’s dominating the set piece, emptying the tank at training, or lifting the standard around him, he leads from the front with a “follow me” mindset that his teammates naturally respond to. He’s the first to do the mahi, the last to seek recognition, and never afraid to ask more of himself before he asks anything of others.
What impressed us most was the consistency of his leadership at club level. Week in, week out, Bodene set the tone not just with his physicality and work ethic, but with the way he inspired belief in those around him. He brings out the best in others because he expects the best from himself. That’s the mark of a true captain.
Bodene plays this game because he genuinely loves it. He’s a student of the craft, especially the dark arts of the tight five and he’s hungry to grow physically and tactically. He’s not chasing glory, he’s chasing growth. And we believe that drive, combined with his humility and team-first mentality, makes him the right person to lead this campaign.
This jersey will be better for having Bodene’s mana stitched into it.

Captain: Cody Doige
Position: Hooker
Vice-Captain: Ben Love
Position: Halfback
Cody was selected to lead this side after showcasing both his rugby IQ and passion to perform throughout his club & our pre-season program. Cody is a leader by his actions & efforts on and off the field.
Ben’s form throughout the club season was hard to ignore, and this leadership role provides a level of responsibility that will no doubt continue to grow him as a player.
*Both Cody & Ben are also members of the Northland Rugby Academy.
