On Friday 4th July, the night before the NZ Māori All Blacks take on Scotland at Semenoff Stadium, we gather to celebrate not only a historic international clash but also the enduring legacy, pride, and mana of Māori rugby in the North.
Taniwha Mana Tartan Pride is more than a dinner – it’s an evening of connection, culture, storytelling, and rugby spirit. Set in the Rūma Noho Papa 2 at Semenoff Stadium, the event brings together passionate rugby supporters, community leaders, and legends of the game for a night you won’t forget.
Guests will enjoy an exquisite menu crafted by Executive Chef Tama Salive and the team from the iconic Duke of Marlborough Hotel, featuring flavours inspired by none other than Hangi Master Rewi Spraggon. Expect world-class hospitality infused with Te Tai Tokerau warmth.
Your MC for the evening is Peeni Henare, and the lineup of guest speakers is stacked with rugby royalty:
– Sir Buck Shelford
– Glen Osborne
– Ian Jones
– Brad Mooar
They’ll share stories that reflect the deep connection between rugby and Māori identity – tales of grit, pride, tradition, and the power of community. There’ll also be raffles and auction items throughout the night, with all proceeds going toward local rugby and community projects across the region.
