HILLCON GROUP NAMED NORTHLAND JERSEY SPONSOR AND LEAD CONTRACTOR FOR NRU POHE ISLAND BUILD

Proud Northland companies HILLCON Group and the Northland Rugby Union (NRU) have joined forces to reenergize the future of rugby in the region.

HILLCON Group is the Northland Taniwha’s new ‘back of shirt’ sponsor and will also lead construction of the NRU’s new Pohe Island development.

“After years of planning, we’re excited to work with HILLCON Group to begin construction of our world-class sporting facility on Pohe Island this month,” says Cameron Bell, Chief Executive Officer, Northland Rugby Union.

“Northland Rugby will finally have its own home, and this will play a huge part in keeping our future Taniwha and Kauri playing in Northland, with the potential to also lure some of our big stars home.”

“The new facility also provides opportunities for the wider community, with access to high performance facilities and testing protocols made possible. On a national scale, the facility will be a cornerstone of the 2021 Rugby World Cup which will see 11 games played at Semenoff Stadium and Northland promoted internationally. To say we are excited is an understatement.”

HILLCON Group has been in the commercial construction game for more than 30 years and has strong community ties in Whangarei and the wider Northland region. The company, led by directors Joel Taylor and James Senescall, owns Coresteel Buildings, Hill Construction and HILLCON Structures.

“We’re thrilled to be supporting the Northland Taniwha in their 2020 season as the ‘back of shirt’ sponsor. Now, more than ever the importance of supporting local is imperative and we can’t wait to support our local team,” says Joel Taylor, Co-Director, HILLCON Group.

Construction of the Pohe Island project will begin this month. “HILLCON Group is extremely proud to be named as the designer and builder of the new NRU building, which will utilise a Coresteel Buildings structural system. We bring extensive commercial construction experience to the table and it’s an honour to work on a building that will benefit the community in so many ways.”
