With a legacy spanning nearly two decades, Andrew’s impact on rugby in Northland has been nothing short of monumental. From his early involvement as a board member in 2007 to serving multiple terms as Chair of the Union, his leadership helped guide Northland Rugby through some of its most defining moments. His dedication extended far beyond our provincial boundaries, as he went on to serve as a Director on the New Zealand Rugby Board, where he became a passionate advocate for the grassroots game.
Andrew’s contribution to the rugby landscape includes a long list of distinguished roles:

Throughout these roles, Andrew has consistently shown an unwavering commitment to the growth and integrity of the game. His current role as Chair of the New Zealand Rugby Foundation sees him continuing to champion player welfare and ensuring support for those who have given so much to our sport.
As CEO Cameron Bell aptly put it, “A true Northlander with Cambridge Blue running through his veins. Andrew’s passion and dedication to our game, and our Union, is second only to his pride and love for his very supportive whānau who share in this recognition.”
Andrew Golightly’s service, humility, and heart have left an enduring mark on the Northland rugby community. This Life Membership isn’t just a celebration of his past contributions—it’s a tribute to the legacy he continues to build.
